We use cookies to store information about your current session (i.e., the account you are currently logged in as) on this website. Bot Protection
We use Cloudflare Turnstile on our registration, contact, password reset, and external link redirect pages to protect against automated abuse. Turnstile analyses browser signals to distinguish real users from bots, collecting your IP address, browser type, and TLS fingerprint in the process. Turnstile uses strictly necessary cookies for bot detection. It does not track you across websites or use data for advertising. Cloudflare may also use this data to improve Turnstile’s bot detection capabilities. Turnstile is not used for signed-in users. This data is processed by Cloudflare, Inc. in accordance with Cloudflare’s Turnstile Privacy Policy.
Analytics
We use Umami, a self-hosted analytics tool running on our own infrastructure, to understand how our site is used. Umami collects anonymised usage data such as page views, referral sources, browser type, and device type. Umami does not use cookies, track you across websites, or use data for advertising. All analytics data is stored on servers we control and is not shared with any third party. You cannot be identified from this data.
Error Monitoring
We use Sentry to monitor errors on this site. When an error occurs, Sentry may receive technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and the action that triggered the error. This data is used solely for diagnosing and resolving technical issues. This data is processed by Functional Software, Inc. in accordance with Sentry’s Privacy Policy. Sentry does not use cookies, track you across websites, or use data for advertising.
Third-Party Services
In the process of using furry.nz to authenticate with other services, we will share your username and a unique user identifier code. Further personal information, including your email address, legal name, and date of birth, is only shared with third-party services when you explicitly authorise it. You will be asked before any of this information is shared. If you update your personal information on this site, the updated information may be shared with the services you have previously authorised.
This site is hosted on a server located in Australia. Some of your information may also be processed in other countries outside New Zealand by the third-party services described in this policy (bot protection, error monitoring, and any services you sign in to through furry.nz). We only use third-party services that maintain appropriate privacy safeguards.
Data Security
We protect your data using industry-standard safeguards, including encrypted connections (TLS), hashed passwords (Argon2), and access controls that limit who can view personal information. We will not release, sell, publish or give away personal information to any other person, unless you give us explicit consent to do so. We may collate and release anonymised statistics about users of this site. However, these statistics will not have any personal information which would identify you.
Your Rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to request access to any personal information we hold about you and to ask for it to be corrected. We will respond to access requests within 20 working days. Contact us at website@furry.nz.
You have the right to have your account and all associated personal information removed from furry.nz. If you have used furry.nz to authenticate with other services, you will also need to contact those services to request data removal.
